Aspirations and Statistics
The following are the aspirations and realities of architecturewiki:
| Aspirations |
Realities |
|
To provided information and items of interest to the Australian and world community on matters relating to architecture and building.
|
The wiki is reaching a wide audience and has users signed up from all over the world. Hits to the site are from people from all over the world. Below is a typical split for a month showing where the audience originates:

The greatest number of hits recorded was 1214 on the 22/4/07 and similar hits on the 11/3/07 and 2/7/07. The site was established in March 07.
For the past 13 months Australia always has the most hits and the USA always has the second most hits.
|
| To provide a working document for the collection of information on architecture and building. |
Many categories have been created and added since the site was established. A diverse range of topics including architectural terms, architectural abbreviations, history of architecture, statutory items, etc have been added to the wiki.
So far most items have been added by the administrator and his daughter/assistant with only 3 items added by other contributors. It would be encouraging to see more items added by more Users. The diversity and depth of knowledge will be greatly enhanced by more contribution. The whole is much greater than the sum of the parts.
A similar pattern is emerging with the most popular items viewed on architecturewiki with architectural terms and abbreviations being usually the most popular each month. A typical month of most viewed items is below (October 2007):
|
| Site Usage Stats and how much more information can be added to the wiki |
As can be seen from these stats late October 2007 only 6% of the space has been used on the wiki. There is much room to add more information and this is only in this format. Larger formats can be organized if the site grows.
|
| To provide a working site for RAIA architects to develop their specifications, drawings, knowledge base etc. |
Sections have been added for the working through of specifications, details and lists of consultants by Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) members. A range of items have been added however contributions from others, apart from the administrator and his daughter, has been minimal. The Administrator is ok with this but believes the site would be of more value to the RAIA members if they contributed more information. I understand architects are often technology challenged and may find the use of a wiki a bit daunting but also I understand that once they try using it they find it very user friendly. |
| Non profit. |
The Administrator is grateful to have received contribution from the RAIA Country Division to maintain and work on the site. However there has been no sponsorship from building suppliers to date. $6 is in the account from Google ads which will be paid when the account reaches about $100. This could take some time!!!
As mentioned though the financial assistance is not a major concern. The Administrator is fascinated by the concept of an architectural knowledge database and enthusiastic to assist its creation.
|
| To provide a site where all those concerned with and interested in architectural items can read and contribute |
It is a great joy to see so many people from Australia and around the world becoming Users and signing up to belong to the site. With their contribution this site will become a great source of knowledge and information. Today (late October 2007) there are over 70 Users signed up to the site which is fantastic. |
