The columns are like tree trunks and the arches the tree canopy. The space between the canopy gives starry gimpses of the heavens over. The church was started in 1882 and is still being constructed with a scheduled completion of 2026-7.

There are probably many opinions on the style of Falling Water and I would love to hear them. My 2 cents worth, and I havent seen that building in real life (I have seen 2 of his buildings), but from photos it is a modernist building. It has large spaces and structure with simple lines particularly the balconies, roofs, etc. It was built during the modern period 1935-37. However Wright's building defied classificiation to some extent as they were unique responses to site and client. He went through many styles during the modern times with preoccupations at different periods with large cantilevers, stained glass, the american prarie image, the motor car, timber detailing, japanese details, aztec details, prefabricated blocks, horizontal lines with vertical interruptions, etc. Fallingwater was also naturalist in style with river rock pattern floor, stone walls, waterfall under, stone fireplace, etc.

To me the building is modernist coming initially from the Arts and Crafts style and becoming part of Wright's organic style of modernist architecture. You could see pictures on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallingwater

Hi I'm just trying to find out if frank lloyd wright's "falling water" buliding was designed in the modernist style? If not, what style is it in? Thanks for your help. p.s this website is really helpful- great work!
